Our Current Campaign

To encourage voters to vote NO on the Wauwatosa Schools Referenda slated for a November 5th, 2024 vote.

In 2018 Wauwatosa taxpayers passed a $124.9 million referendum. On November 5th, two new referenda seeking a total of $124.4 million are on the ballot.

If the new referenda pass, taxpayers will pay an extra $840 per year in property taxes on a $400,000 home.

A No Vote is a Vote for Change

  • A NO Vote is...

Voting yes to Tosa kids, Tosa taxpayers and the future of the Tosa school district.

  • A NO Vote is...

Demanding a comprehensive plan to hold the school board and administration accountable

  • A NO Vote is...

Refusing to write a blank check to the district and trust that the money will be spent wisely.

  • A NO Vote is...

Refusing to continue pouring money into old, failing, partially filled buildings and filling them with non-resident students.

  • A NO Vote is...

Demanding that the district adjust its size to align with student enrollment, which can be achieved by closing schools and selling the properties.

  • A NO Vote is...

NOT Denying our district the funding they need to retain essential student facing staff, including socially emotional specialists.

  • A NO Vote is...

Demanding the district make cuts that spare students and staff. Like corporations, the district can restructure its administration to save significant money.

  • A NO Vote is...

Ensuring tax dollars prioritize teachers, student-facing roles, and students, while providing competitive salaries for teachers.

  • A NO Vote is...

Ensuring that Wauwatosa residents are not forced out of the community because of another drastic increase in taxes.

  • A NO Vote is...

Ensuring elderly and retired individuals on fixed incomes, single parents, and low income families stay financially viable.

  • "The AVID scandal, outdated curriculum, open meeting violations, backdoor dealings, poor proficiency. It’s always someone else’s fault. It’s time to demand accountability."

    Michael

  • "You won't regain the community's trust by deflecting responsibility. Step up, take accountability, and show real leadership. We want to support our kids, but they deserve better."

    Meg

  • "Where is the plan to address the ongoing decline in student enrollment? What budget cuts are being proposed to meet our financial constraints? And what is the strategy for adjusting our school footprint to the right size? How will all this spending improve student proficiency?"

    Dan

  • "Saying yes to increased funding without demanding increased responsibility & increased accountability by those that manage our precious dollars is a fool’s bet that I am not sure many Tosa residents are willing, or able, to make."

    Sarah

  • "I am concerned that the referendum money will not be managed appropriately. The board approved a $7 million deficit budget and then approved millions of dollars in new spending. The board and the chair of the finance committee were then shocked when the actual deficit turned out to be $15 million. In my mind, this proves that they are not managing the funds competently."
